2024 is all about the painter Caspar David Friedrich. Greifswald, the world-famous painter’s home city, is celebrating a major anniversary: 250 Years of Caspar David Friedrich – From Greifswald to the World.

Greifswald is not only his birthplace – it’s also where he was baptised, received his first art lessons and the city he returned to after time in Copenhagen and later life in Dresden. He was always drawn back to the Bay of Greifswald to find inspiration from its unique nature.
